A high-level meeting between Kashmiri leadership and British parliamentarians was held at the British Parliament to discuss the future parliamentary strategy on the Kashmir issue and to further strengthen awareness campaigns across the United Kingdom. The consultation focused on highlighting the human rights situation in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir and ensuring that the voice of the Kashmiri people continues to be effectively raised in British political forums.
Founder Chairman of Jammu Kashmir Self-Determination Movement International and prominent global Kashmiri leader Raja Najabat Hussain, Sitara-e-Pakistan, met with Chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on Kashmir and Member of Parliament for Bradford East, Barrister Imran Hussain MP, at his office in Bradford. During the meeting, detailed discussions were held on joint activities to be carried out in the British Parliament and major cities across the UK to draw attention to ongoing human rights concerns in occupied Kashmir.
Raja Najabat Hussain congratulated Barrister Imran Hussain on the successful “Kashmir Debate” held at Westminster Hall on the occasion of International Human Rights Day, terming it a milestone that brought renewed international attention to the Kashmir dispute. He also referred to a joint letter addressed to Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer, signed by more than 50 British MPs, describing it as a significant step in reviving global focus on Kashmir at a critical time. He further briefed the MP on proposed activities of the movement planned for January and February 2026 and sought continued parliamentary support.
Barrister Imran Hussain MP reaffirmed his firm commitment to the Kashmir cause, stating that as a British parliamentarian of Kashmiri origin, he would continue to raise the issue at every forum in line with United Nations Security Council resolutions and the wishes of the Kashmiri people. He urged the Kashmiri community in the UK to maintain active engagement with their local MPs, emphasizing that a strong and united parliamentary voice is essential to exert pressure on the British government for a peaceful resolution of the dispute.
He also assured continued cooperation on the Kashmir issue within the British Parliament and the Labour Party. Barrister Imran Hussain confirmed his participation in the “Kashmir Self-Determination Week,” to be organized by Jammu Kashmir Self-Determination Movement International early next year in Bradford and at the House of Commons.
