The Kashmir Orphan Relief Trust (KORT) successfully held its first grand fundraising event in Washington DC, collecting more than six hundred thousand dollars to support its humanitarian projects. Despite harsh winter conditions and snowfall, a large number of Pakistani and Kashmiri community members turned out, marking the event as a historic milestone for the organization.
KORT Chairman Chaudhry Akhtar specially attended the gathering, while Pakistan’s Ambassador to the United States, Sheikh Saeed Rizwan, served as the chief guest. The event saw participation from several prominent community figures, including Sajid Tarar, Sheikh Siddique, Asha Khan, Dr. Rizwan Malik, Senator Khawaja Akbar, Dr. Zulfiqar Kazmi, Dr. Aamir, Dr. Rauf, Badi Rahman, Abbas Khan, Saqib, Ahmed Rana, Irfan Yaqoob, Hafiz Habibullah, Asif Khan, Nazem, Azim Khan, Zahid Qureshi, Fazal Mumtaz, and many others from various professional and social backgrounds.
The programme was conducted with grace and precision by Master of Ceremonies Amna Inam, whose management and hosting added structure and warmth to the evening. Additional support came from Habib Malik of the UK team, who played a pivotal role in presenting KORT’s mission, highlighting orphan sponsorship, hospital projects, and other ongoing initiatives. His detailed appeal encouraged attendees to contribute generously, helping the organization achieve an impressive fundraising total.
The event also received strong backing from several foundations, community groups and supporters including the Kind Heart Foundation, Insaniyat Foundation, Pakistan Farmhouse team, Ruby Decor, Sahara Programs, Serving Humanity Foundation, and other individual contributors. Representatives from electronic and print media ensured wide coverage, helping spread the message of KORT’s humanitarian efforts.
Teams from Washington, the UK, Pakistan, and New York worked collectively to organize the event, supported by numerous volunteers. Contributions ranged from table and ward sponsorships to donations for hospital projects, wheelchairs, and orphan support programmes. The organizers expressed deep gratitude to all philanthropists whose generosity made the event a remarkable success.
