Convention 2026 will be held to highlight the Kashmir issue at the international level and to create investment opportunities for overseas Kashmiris, Chairman Overseas Pakistanis Foundation (OPF) Syed Qamar Raza said in an interview with senior journalist Ishtiaq Abbasi. He also shared these views during a meeting with former Deputy Speaker Azad Jammu and Kashmir Shaheen Kousar Dar at the OPF office in Islamabad.
Chairman OPF said overseas Kashmiris have played a historic role in raising awareness about the Kashmir issue across the world. He added that the Kashmiri community living abroad has consistently used international forums to highlight human rights concerns in Kashmir and to keep the issue alive at the global level.
He said overseas Kashmiris have also made significant contributions to Pakistan’s and Azad Jammu and Kashmir’s development. According to him, the diaspora has been a key source of investment, remittances, and technical expertise, making it an important stakeholder in national progress.
Syed Qamar Raza said the Overseas Business Convention 2026 will provide a structured platform to facilitate investment opportunities in Azad Jammu and Kashmir. He added that discussions are underway at federal and parliamentary levels to ensure institutional support for overseas investors and to strengthen economic engagement.
The OPF chairman reiterated these points during his meeting with Ms Shaheen, former Deputy Speaker Azad Jammu and Kashmir. The meeting focused on matters concerning the diaspora and overseas Kashmiris, while a cake-cutting ceremony was also held on the occasion to mark the commencement of the new year 2026.
