A high-level meeting chaired by Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and Federal Minister for Overseas Pakistanis Chaudhry Salik Hussain reviewed stringent measures to curb the use of forged documents by outbound passengers and strengthen immigration controls. The government has decided to intensify action against travellers attempting to go abroad on fake visas or counterfeit papers.
During the meeting, it was agreed that the protector issuance process will be made more secure, while reforms in immigration procedures will be introduced to better facilitate genuine passengers. The ministers directed all relevant departments to submit their final recommendations within seven days and ordered a comprehensive crackdown on the agent mafia involved in fake visa operations.
The government will introduce an AI-based pilot system at Islamabad Airport starting January, aimed at identifying unfit or suspicious travellers before they reach immigration counters. Minister Mohsin Naqvi said the technology will help authorities determine in advance which passengers are eligible to travel. He added that passports of deported individuals will be permanently cancelled, and measures will be taken to prevent them from obtaining visas again.
Naqvi further announced that a unified international driving licence will be issued through the National Police Bureau, and a strict zero-tolerance policy will be enforced against forged visas and the networks supporting them. He said Pakistan is engaging with foreign countries to improve the ranking of its green passport, noting that fraudulent travel attempts damage the nation’s global reputation.
Chaudhry Salik Hussain stressed the need for a transparent and reliable protector system, saying individuals travelling on labour visas must have authentic documents. He assured full cooperation from the Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis in strengthening the protector and immigration mechanisms. The meeting also reviewed action against illegal migrants and those carrying incomplete papers, besides holding detailed discussions on e-driving licences, protector stamps, and immigration procedures. Representatives from NADRA, FIA, Immigration, and the Passport & Immigration Directorate attended the session.
