Pakistani workers in Australia have significantly increased their remittances during the first four months of the ongoing fiscal year, marking a 41.8 percent rise on a year-on-year basis. According to data released by the State Bank of Pakistan, remittances from Australia reached 346.8 million dollars between July and October.
The figures show a substantial increase compared to the same period of the previous fiscal year, when Pakistani workers in Australia had sent 244.6 million dollars. In October alone, remittances from Australia amounted to 87.8 million dollars, slightly lower than September’s 90.5 million dollars but notably higher than the 65.2 million dollars recorded in October last year.
Data indicates that Australia has emerged as one of the stronger remittance corridors for Pakistan during the current fiscal year. The growth reflects improved inflows from Pakistani expatriates employed across various sectors in Australia.
Overall, overseas Pakistanis collectively sent 12.955 billion dollars in remittances during the first four months of the fiscal year, showing a 9.3 percent increase compared to 11.850 billion dollars recorded in the same period last year.
