Murree: A shocking incident at Jhika Gali Chowk has triggered public outrage after a police officer handcuffed an overseas Pakistani to a roadside pole. The act, which was captured by onlookers and widely shared on social media, has drawn strong criticism from the public and raised serious questions about police conduct in the hill station.

According to details, the altercation began between police constable Mubashir and a citizen, Khalid Latif, shortly after they exited the local court. The argument, initially verbal, escalated as both men reached Jhika Gali Chowk, where the situation took a violent turn.

Constable Mubashir claimed that Khalid Latif physically assaulted him and attempted to kill him. The officer further alleged that Khalid was facing two legal cases—one in which he had secured bail and another in which warrants had been issued for his arrest—and that he was trying to flee the area in a vehicle after leaving the court premises.

Khalid Latif, however, strongly denied the police officer’s accusations. He stated that he had only one pending case, for which he had been granted bail earlier that day. “The constable tore my clothes and humiliated me. I am an overseas Pakistani and I was treated unfairly,” he said, describing the incident as a gross misuse of power.

Eyewitnesses reported that the constable handcuffed Khalid Latif and tied him to an electric pole at Jhika Gali Chowk. A crowd of citizens gathered at the scene and protested against the police officer’s actions, demanding accountability and immediate investigation into the matter.

Following the uproar, Khalid Latif was taken to the District Police Officer (DPO) office along with his lawyers. Authorities have initiated a formal inquiry into the incident, and according to sources, CCTV footage and mobile phone videos of the event have been collected to determine responsibility and ensure transparency in the investigation.
