Oman has launched a new Cultural Visa aimed at attracting skilled and creative individuals from around the world. According to a statement issued by the Royal Oman Police on the social media platform X, the visa is designed to provide foreign nationals with a clear legal route for temporary stay and work in the fields of arts and culture.
The Cultural Visa functions as a special entry permit granted exclusively to foreigners visiting Oman for cultural purposes. It is issued upon the request and responsibility of a relevant host institution, such as the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth, educational establishments, or cultural centres. The visa is available to applicants entering the country to participate in approved cultural activities. Authorities have clarified that spouses, parents and children of the primary applicant may also be eligible for a Cultural Joining Visa.
Under the new framework, applicants can obtain the visa for one year at a fee of 50 Omani Riyals, or for five and ten years at the same yearly rate of 50 Omani Riyals per year. The structure is intended to support long-term engagement of experts, researchers and creative professionals contributing to Oman’s cultural ecosystem.
Officials stated that the Cultural Visa aims to facilitate the arrival of foreign talent, encourage knowledge transfer and promote cultural exchange. It seeks to regulate the legal presence of foreigners involved in cultural activities while ensuring oversight and compliance by the hosting institutions responsible for their engagement.
