Islamabad: (OPN) Dr. Mirza Ikhtiar Baig, Honorary Consul General of Yemen in Karachi, senior politician, and noted economist, has been awarded the Global Ambassador Award 2025 in recognition of his significant role in strengthening Pakistan’s diplomatic outreach and economic ties. His decades-long work in parliamentary diplomacy, international forums, and business-government linkages earned him this distinguished honor at a ceremony held in Islamabad.
The award acknowledges Dr. Mirza Ikhtiar Baig’s lifelong commitment to promoting Pakistan’s interests globally, advancing peace, and encouraging responsible leadership. His diplomatic engagement and contributions to economic policy have placed him among the leading voices supporting Pakistan’s economic and foreign policy advancement at various international platforms.
Ambassadors, global dignitaries, business leaders, and civil society members attended the high-profile event hosted by the Diplomatic Insight Group (DIG) as part of the 7th Global Ambassador Awards. The ceremony celebrated prominent foreign envoys, international organization heads, and distinguished figures from the public and private sectors for their role in strengthening Pakistan’s bilateral and multilateral relations.
During the ceremony, the esteemed award recipients were presented with certificates of appreciation by Huzaifa Rehman, Minister of State/SAPM on National Heritage and Culture, and Murtaza Solangi, Spokesperson to the President of Pakistan. The certificates symbolized Pakistan’s acknowledgment of the honorees’ exceptional service, leadership, and commitment to supporting meaningful global engagement.
Dr. Mirza Ikhtiar Baig has been serving as a Member of the National Assembly from NA-241 Karachi South-III since February 29, 2024, representing the Pakistan People’s Party Parliamentarians (PPP). He previously served as Advisor to the Prime Minister on Textiles and as Senior Vice President of the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FPCCI). Along with his political and diplomatic roles, he is Chairman and CEO of the Baig Group of Industries and the Founding President of Make-A-Wish Foundation Pakistan. His national and international recognitions include the Tamgha-e-Imtiaz, Sitara-e-Imtiaz, and the Order of Merit from the President of Yemen.
