A delegation of the Pakistan Overseas Alliance Forum (POAF) Europe and Germany held a meeting with Managing Director Overseas Pakistanis Foundation (OPF) Muhammad Afzaal Bhatti at the OPF Headquarters. The delegation included Chaudhry Mazhar Iqbal Dewana, Patron POAF Europe; Nasir Mahmood Chaudhry, Chairman Executive Council; Imtiaz Ahmed, Chairman POAF Germany; Chaudhry Iftikhar Ahmed, President POAF Germany; Chaudhry Ehsan Elahi, General Secretary; and Sohail Mehdi Gujjar, President POAF Pakistan Chapter.
During the meeting, the delegation discussed key issues faced by overseas Pakistanis and thanked Muhammad Afzaal Bhatti for his role in facilitating the dual nationality agreement between Pakistan and Germany. The delegation also congratulated him on the issuance of the related notification, terming it a major relief for the Pakistani community in Germany.
The delegation presented several demands, including the appointment of a permanent Consul General at the Pakistan Consulate in Frankfurt, restoration of NADRA offices in various European countries, an end to unlawful off-loading of passengers at airports, a minimum ten-year tax-free policy for overseas Pakistanis, and the establishment of a dedicated overseas bank for expatriates.
MD OPF Muhammad Afzaal Bhatti listened to the concerns in detail and assured the delegation of concrete steps to resolve the issues. He congratulated the Pakistani community in Germany on the dual nationality agreement and reaffirmed OPF’s commitment to safeguarding the rights and interests of overseas Pakistanis.
Addressing the issue of unlawful off-loading, the MD OPF said that any overseas Pakistani facing such treatment at airports should be referred to OPF immediately. He stated that OPF would verify the documents, facilitate check-in, and ensure action against officials involved in illegal off-loading. He also announced that NADRA offices in Berlin and Frankfurt would be operational soon.
